Japanese Macaques, often referred to as "snow monkeys" because some live in areas where snow covers the ground for months each year – no other non-human primate is more northern-living, nor lives in a colder climate. They typically enjoy sweet fruit such as blackberries and various types of seeds. Inspired by these fascinating mammals, Kyoto "Snow" Monkey is made with blackberries, red bean paste for sweetness, and Shishito peppers for spice.
